I studied graphic design at art school in the late 60's in West London then had a career in commercial art producing artwork and illustrations for print until after studying mathematics at the Open University I was able to get a job in the trading department of BP Oil International. During that period art was not a major interest but I did manage the odd portrait commission in my spare time. Now in my retirement job I have the time to renew my love of art and painting. My practice switches between oils, acrylics, watercolours and now coloured pencils after reading an article on blending and layering coloured pencils to achieve realistic effects inspired me to use them for portraits. I'm looking forward to applying coloured pencils on more and more subjects in more and more ways.
