I have been drawing and painting since I can remember, having loved Art and animals all my life. Self-taught, and more than 40 years on from School Art, I’m learning all the time. At first, I drew my own pet, before progressing to draw and paint pets of friends and family. Looking back fondly on my older work, steady improvements have occurred with practice and experience. That said, every single piece remains unique in its own way!
Having moved from Fife to Nairn in 2017, I am now focused on Art, as full time as I can, working from my garden art studio.
I live in Nairn with my wife, we love the outdoors, being fortunate to live near to the beach and miles of woodland. Walking our cavapoos is one of our favourite pastimes. Cycling and running are others. Running is gentler now, but in the past I have completed 5 marathons (including London) and many half marathons and 10Ks. I thrive on challenge and adventure, and have done abseiling, sky diving, bungee jumping and zip wires. The eye for detail, and stamina for endurance, fit well with my Art – which starts with a deep love of animals and a wish to painstakingly bring them to life in ways which are both individual and memorable.
Up until last year I had not taken part in an exhibition. I am a member of Nairn Art Society and I sold 3 pieces in our summer exhibition in Nairn last year (2018).
