A bit about me: I'm Yorkshire born, now living in Ingoldsby, Lincolnshire with my wife, Linda and two small Schnauzers. My career stems from being a time served draughtsman out of the shipbuilding and heavy engineering industry in Hull during the sixties, ending as a hydraulic engineer up to the time of my retirement. I have had some formal art training at night classes during the late 80's, but mainly I am self-taught.

Watercolours was my initial medium, as far back as 1986, with my main inspirations coming from weather textures, machinery and architecture, driven by the renowned artist, Richard Bolton.

Since my retirement in 2011 and travelling with my wife, I decided to try coloured pencils, as they are easier to handle on the move. After viewing Graham Brace's CP article back in 2013 this, with the travelling, really gave me new found inspiration and subject matter. Coloured pencils then became my passion.

At present I use the extensive Derwent ranges of pencils, together with Polychromos and am currently investigating CP ranges, varying supports, tooling and techniques etc.

I have always been drawn to weathered textured subjects and just love the detail, control and wide variation of techniques needed to create and master as I say, those pesky little coloured sticks.
