Welcome to the UK Coloured Pencil Society website
The UK Coloured Pencil Society (UKCPS) was founded in 2001, inspired by a collection of people who, despite having never met, shared a passion for the art of coloured pencil.
In June 2018, the society was granted charity status with the following Object: To promote the art of drawing for the public benefit through the use of coloured pencils by providing at least one annual exhibition to showcase work with workshops and demonstrations to help educate the public how to use coloured pencils and by providing such other support to educate the public as the trustees deem appropriate.
Coloured pencil is often used for the intricacies of botanical, wildlife and animal works but is also widely applied to portraiture, still life and landscapes plus experimental modern pieces. This is illustrated by the wide variety of subject matter covered by artists showing at the annual exhibitions.
We welcome all levels of skill - just a keen interest in learning or using coloured pencil. So if you want to know more about using coloured pencil and join up with a group of like-minded people and click/tap on the Learn More button.
We hold 2-3 exhibitions each year. Our Annual Open Exhibition is open to all artists and we hold an online exhibition for members only.
