I find my inspiration in the patterns, textures and colours of the natural world. The aim of my work is to share my delight in the beauty to be found in the small details all around us - in trees, plants, flowers and roots, rock, stone and water. I also enjoy working on animal subjects, trying to convey their individual personalities.
Colour pencil is my favourite medium. It allows me to capture my subject on paper with directness and simplicity, enabling me to concentrate on the image rather than the technique.
I believe that experiment and play bring fun and creativity to art, and I enjoy trying out a wide variety of subjects, styles and media alongside my more traditional work.
A selection of original work is available in my online shop, together with high quality prints and greetings cards. If other work in progress catches your eye, I am happy to take requests for purchase. I also take commissions for pet portraits, with many delighted clients.
I have exhibited for many years with Southern Nature and at a number of well-established shows local to my Hampshire home. My work was selected for exhibition at the St Barbe Open in 2023 for the eighth year running, and in 2020 one of my Fallen Leaves series was a category winner in the national SAA Artists of the Year competition.
Previously, one of my colour pencil drawings was shortlisted in the National Open Art competition, and two graphite drawings were accepted and hung at the Society of Graphic Fine Art DRAW15 exhibition.
